A Journey from Concept to Presence

Photography was love at first sight. As a visual artist, I created photographic installations based on conceptual ideas that fulfilled me for a time—until they didn’t. Eventually, it began to drain my energy. Looking back, I see how often I was searching outward, comparing, meeting required standards—far from my aligned self.

Although the creative process allowed me to reconnect and align within, I found myself running out of ideas, feeling a lack of authenticity. While there were moments of surprise and spontaneity, the process became hard work.

When I discovered Miksang Photography, everything shifted. I landed in a space of profound relaxation, where my physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and creative selves all aligned. Instead of hunting for “beautiful photos,” beauty came to me. And 'hard work' transformed into joyful effort. Each recognized perception as a moment of pure joy, inviting me to stop fully and letting it in.

Miksang Photography isn’t about becoming the “best” photographer. Rather, it’s about open, uninhibited seeing, allowing to pause, noticing what resonates (positively) and expressing yourself authentically in each moment. It encourages a deep, intimate connection to the here and now—wherever you are and whatever your mood.

Join us for a 9-day immersive Miksang Retreat, where the focus is on pure perception, the process of lookign and seeing, and your authentic photographic expression. Dive into the foundational principles and nuances of Miksang Photography—a contemplative art form that brings together mindfulness meditation in action. No prior experience in photography or meditation is required, but if you have a meditation background, you may find your sense of presence and stillness deepening through this practice.


Each day, engage in visual exercises to align your eyes, heart and mindfollowed by photographic assignments that bring this alignment into focus. Experience the deeply calming and inspiring power of this young art form, where spirituality and creativity meet in the open space within.

About Zandvoort

Zandvoort is located at the coast of the Netherlands, next to Amsterdam City.  It's a multicultural town, also a popular coastal village for water sports enthusiasts. With all kinds of local (fresh fish) dishes (including vegetarian) and many restaurants with a diverse mixed European kitchen. You will find yourself in a relaxed laidback atmosphere.

In your free time you can explore Zandvoort, stroll along the beach and wild nature trails in the dunes.

It is highly recommendable to visit Haarlem City and/or Amsterdam City.
